The Conejo Valley has become one of Southern California's favorite places to get married: oak-shaded estates in Westlake Village, ranch venues in Thousand Oaks and Hidden Valley, golf clubs and hillside properties in Simi Valley and Moorpark, and the Malibu canyons a short drive away. The catch is geography. Venues are often miles from the nearest hotel, guests fly into LAX, and everyone needs to be somewhere at a specific time in nice clothes. Transportation is where a beautiful day either runs smoothly or unravels. Here's how to plan it.
The four rides every wedding needs
1. The couple
A black luxury SUV for the couple — getting-ready location to ceremony, ceremony to reception if they differ, and the send-off at the end of the night. A full-size SUV has the headroom and door width that a gown and a photographer's needs demand, and it photographs beautifully at a twilight exit. Booked by the hour so the vehicle is simply there whenever the timeline shifts.
2. The wedding party
Bridesmaids and groomsmen usually travel from two different getting-ready locations. Two SUVs — one per side — keep the groups separate before the ceremony and together after. For larger parties we add vehicles and keep one chauffeur as the lead so the planner has a single contact.
3. Guest shuttles
Guests staying at the Westlake Village hotels, in Thousand Oaks or in Agoura Hills need to reach a venue that may have limited parking and a winding canyon road. Rather than a single bus with one departure time, many couples run two or three SUVs in a continuous loop for the hour before the ceremony and for two hours after the reception ends — no one waits, and no one drives after the open bar.
4. Airport arrivals
Out-of-town guests landing at LAX or Burbank are the ones most likely to have a bad day: a late flight, a rideshare that cancels, a 90-minute drive to a hotel they've never seen. A fixed-fare transfer with flight tracking and meet-and-greet removes that entirely. A sample wedding-day timeline
- 1:00 p.m. — SUV 1 collects the wedding party from the hotel; SUV 2 collects the other side from a private home in Westlake Village. Both arrive at the venue for photos.
- 3:30 p.m. — SUVs 3 and 4 begin a hotel-to-venue loop for guests, running until the 4:30 ceremony.
- 4:15 p.m. — the couple's SUV delivers the bride from the getting-ready suite.
- 10:00 p.m. — guest loop resumes from venue to hotels until midnight.
- 10:30 p.m. — sparkler send-off; the couple's SUV departs for the hotel.
What to book, and when
- 3–6 months out — reserve the couple's car and the wedding-party vehicles for the date. Peak season (April–June and September–November) fills up.
- 6–8 weeks out — confirm guest counts and hotel blocks; decide on the shuttle loop size.
- 3 weeks out — share the airport-transfer link with out-of-town guests.
